Loss Control & Risk Management

Provide consultative loss control service to clients that will assist client’s management in developing an effective loss control program. This service consists of giving suggestions for organizing a loss control program, selecting program priorities, performing job hazard analysis, conducting periodic hazard and exposure recognition surveys, training client’s employees in loss control related areas, providing resource materials, audiovisual materials, loss experience information and investigating and analyzing losses for purpose of conducting proactive loss control with clients.

LGLP provides loss control and risk management training classes and seminars. This service is available at no extra cost to the members of the Local Government Liability Pool. This service is provided to help our members minimize and prevent losses and claims. Members can contact the LGLP Loss Control Manager to set up classes and seminars. Classes that are offered and brief descriptions are as follows:

Supervision – Different tools for the development of a supervisor.

Leadership – Tools for the development of leadership skills.

Time Management – Different tools to assist in how to better manage your time.

Documentation – Fundamentals of good documentation throughout the entire employment relationship.

Performance & Productivity – Tools for supervisors to use in helping employees reach their top performance and productivity.

Conflict Resolution – How to work with conflict and manage it.

Performance & Disciplinary Action – Tools supervisors can use to correct behavior, motivate, and set goals.

Harassment – To help you recognize workplace harassment, to help you understand the need to follow and enforce policies that prohibit workplace harassment; whereby taking a proactive approach.

Discrimination – To help you understand what discrimination in employment means, and help you avoid discrimination in employment decisions.

Workplace Violence – To help you recognize the threat of workplace violence and help you understand the legal ramifications of workplace violence.

Delegate – Tools to help you recognize when to delegate and how to delegate.

Hiring – To help you understand key legal issues in the hiring process and help you to avoid illegal acts in the hiring process.

Termination – Tools to assist you in the termination process.

Risk Control – Tools to assist with looking for risk issues and how to form safety committees.

Ethics – Tools to assist in making correct ethical decisions in the workplace.
