Liability coverage for Wyoming Local Governments

The Wyoming Local Government Liability Pool (LGLP) is committed to providing a stable, affordable, quality source of liability coverage and risk management services. LGLP is a self-insurance program created by statute and operated by a joint powers board.

What is Covered

LGLP provides coverage for liability that local governments are exposed to considering their limited exposure for state law claims under the Wyoming Governmental Claims Act (WGCA). LGLP also provides substantial coverage to local governments for their liability exposure under federal law while balancing an affordable, financially sound, and stable liability protection program.
LGLP’s liability program provides coverage for member entities and their public employees, acting within the scope of duties for claims arising under:

The Wyoming Governmental Claims Act, including liability for operation of a motor vehicle, healthcare provider malpractice, and other torts for which governmental entities are not immune under the WGCA.

Local Government Liability Pool Rules and Regulations

The Wyoming Local Government Liability Pool (LGLP) is a self-insurance program created by statute and operated by a joint powers board. See W.S. 1-42-202(a). The LGLP Board is authorized to adopt rules governing the administration of the program. See W.S. 1-42-203(a)(vii). Please see the below Local Government Liability Pool Rules and Regulations as amended by the LGLP Board on January 27, 2022.
